Nathaniel Bassey makes you want to worship in a language you
do not understand. Thanks to the music video; the chorus in the local Nigerian
language is explained in English. The music originality and authenticity in the
lyrics are identified. It is amazing! “Imela” means thank you. It is amazing
because Nathaniel Bassey expresses thanks to God but not merely using the everyday
kind of phrases you and I are used to. He questions God; asking why he deserves
goodness even though a sinner. He reminds God he is saved not by any good deeds
but because of the blood of the lamb. This composition is an award winning one.
The musical influence is dominant because unless you are truly grateful, you
will be singing but not from the depth of your heart. “Imela” featuring Enitan
Adaba is a wonderful collaboration. The harmony by the backing vocalists and
the vocal prowess of Enitan makes listening to this song, worth it. Nathaniel
Bassey comes in with the second verse and puts the icing on the cake. I can listen to this song over and over again.
