MUSIC REVIEW: MADE ME GLAD – DAVID B

David B
Date: November 12, 2013
Genre: Ballad (Gospel)
Release: April 03, 2013
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: JEFFREY OWUSU

This beautiful song (originally sang by Hillsong) with only the piano and the voice of David B makes you appreciate worship in a serene way. David has an angelic voice and he reminds you with this song, what the Bible says. What does the Bible say? The Bible says a lot! But specifically when in your time of need, this song reminds you that God is your very present help, and your source of strength. God is your shield, your strength, your portion, your strong tower, your deliverer, and your shelter. The lyrics are few but a good deal of motivation is derived as the musical influence is strongly communicated.

MUSIC REVIEW: HIGHER – JOE METTLE

Joe Mettle

Date: November 12, 2013
Genre: Gospel (Contemporary, Ballad, Worship)
Release: 2013
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: JEFFREY OWUSU

Worshipping God gets better and better! Don’t get me wrong, with or without music, those (unashamed believers) that worship in truth and spirit, can and will still give God worship. True worship is what matters; forgetting all else, everyone present or absent and getting soaked in the presence of God. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, I couldn’t wait for it to be officially released. Not only can I now write about it, I can sing along with Joe every day! This worship song is one that solely gives reverence to God. Joe Mettle has a commanding voice as a worship leader, he sings with passion and with power. If you ever found worshipping God a task, listen to this song.

MUSIC REVIEW: OUR LIVES BELONG TO YOU – T-SHARP

T-Sharp
Date: November 12, 2013
Genre: Gospel
Release: January 23, 2013
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: JEFFREY OWUSU

I love this song. I love it love it love it! It is a simple, easy-to-sing-along song yet a powerful uplifting worship song! Do you praise and worship God for who He is? How about because of what He does? The many blessings He showers on you daily. Certainly it is a privilege to be called sons and daughters of God. Our good deeds the Bible says are like filthy rags before Him. T-Sharp in this song worships simply because the live He lives, belongs to God. I don’t know about you but I’d have my life belonging to God than to any mortal being. This song has a fine rhythm, the beat is cool, and the voices sound angelic. The backing vocals are evidently strong with audible male bass and tenor singers. If you can sing in worship because of where your live belongs, God can do a lot with it!

MUSIC REVIEW: NO SHAKARA – AFRIY DAVID

Afriy David
Date: November 12, 2013
Genre: Gospel Contemporary
Release: 2013
Rating: 4/5
Reviewer: JEFFREY OWUSU

In addition to God saving you, He will sugar your coco and butter your bread. God will not fail you, Afriy David says to you. This mid tempo dance tune sang in English and a bit of the pidgin language brings out the quality of a good Nigerian Ghanaian root mix. It’s still urban music, gospel, and the beat will get you bumping your head. The rhythm is nice, especially the part where Afriy and his backing vocalists sing laa laa la la la la, la laaaa. No shakara is a song in appreciation to God expressing how He always keeps to His promises, how He remains incomparable to none. Any challenges, difficulties you’ve been facing lately? Sing along already because Afriy David assures you, even before it materializes, that God has never failed and He isn’t about to. Stand tall, stay bold, confident and say to the enemy in the face: “No Shakara.”

MUSIC REVIEW: I LOOK TO YOU – DAVID B

David B
Date: November 12, 2013
Genre: Ballad
Release: April 03, 2013
Rating: 3.75/5

This song is only 2 minutes 23 seconds long. It’s from his 2013 album, The Worship Collection. The title will leave you pondering, or asking whether it’s got anything to do with Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You.” Yes it has. The original song which happens to be longer than 2 minutes is by the late Whitney Houston. This is a rendition by David B, and I could say it is the male version of a powerful inspirational song by the late diva. I loved it the first time I heard it; I will listen to it as many times, but I still prefer the original song. This is partly because nobody sings it better than the late songstress and also because I simply loved her.

MUSIC REVIEW: HOLDING ON – ft. KESHIA MCFARLAND by SAM ADEBANJO & DTWG

Date: November 05, 2013
Genre: Gospel (Contemporary/ RnB)
Release: 2013
Rating: 4/5
Reviewer: JEFFREY OWUSU

DTWG is Desire To Worship God. Honestly, this is one of the many hits on the double disc album; The Mission The Vision. After taking a listen to all the songs I decided to write a review on this song first. Everyone likes to be inspired, I do too! This song talks of how GOD will not change. “If you will stay close to Him, decide to hold on, GOD will always be your guide and His love for you will not change,” the lyrics tell. Sam, Keshia & DTWG express how much they desire to be like GOD. So should you. So should you also be determined to hold on to Christ Jesus. Repeatedly singing “I’m holding on...,” the angelic voices in this song make listening a delight and singing along a desire. Desire to worship God (I’m literally asking you) and be inspired to hold on like the title suggests, to every promise God has made concerning your life.

MUSIC REVIEW: EBUBEDIKE – PITA (PRAISE IN THIS AGE)

Date: November 05, 2013
Genre: Gospel (Contemporary/ Ballad)
Release: 2013
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: JEFFREY OWUSU

For more than a week I kept this song on replay; and that was after hearing it for the very first time. The words of this song are soothing. These descriptive words used by PITA describe GOD for not only who GOD is, but also how He is! What He does, according to PITA is inexplicable, He is too much! Incomparable hence the song title: “Ebubedike.” This mid-tempo urban song has such profound lyrics listening to it makes sense right away. I love the harmony. PITA also known as Peter Linus sings this song beautifully, backing vocalists join in melodiously, repeating the verse and eventually singing the chorus. I don’t believe this song is a rendition thus I credit PITA for the music originality. For many who listen to this song, they will remain in love with it. GOD is highly esteemed in this song!
